Prof. B. Sudheer Prem Kumar is a distinguished academician, researcher, and administrator with an exceptional career spanning 38 years in Mechanical Engineering. His expertise encompasses teaching, research, institutional leadership, and policy-making in higher education. He has held numerous prestigious positions, including Vice-Chancellor of Rayalaseema University, Secretary of the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE). His leadership extended to serving as Director of RGUKT (Idupulapaya & Ongole), Coordinator for MERITE at JNTUH-UCESTH, Chief Regional Coordinator for TSEAMCET, Nodal Officer for RUSA at JNTUH, and Coordinator for TEQIP-III. Additionally, he was Principal (I/C) & Vice-Principal at JNTUHCE Jagityal, Chairman of the Board of Studies for Mechanical Engineering at JNTUH, and Convener for the Engineering Curriculum Revision in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
With a strong commitment to academic excellence, Dr. Prem Kumar has contributed significantly to research and innovation, having published 221 research papers, guided 22 Ph.D. scholars, and secured multiple patents in automotive design aimed at improving fuel efficiency. He has played a key role in engineering education reforms, leading curriculum design initiatives for nearly 300 affiliated colleges under JNTUH and collaborating with international institutions such as Blekinge Institute of Technology (BTH), Sweden.
Dr. Prem Kumar’s influence extends beyond academia into global research and industrial collaborations. He has presented research papers at international platforms, and his global exposure includes visits to the United States, Finland, South Korea, and Brazil Universities where he engaged in research presentations, leadership training, and academic collaborations. He has also been a peer committee member for NAAC and AICTE inspections across India. His contributions to engineering and technical education have been recognized through numerous awards, including Best Paper Awards, key positions in government-led technical investigations, and advisory roles in major engineering education initiatives.
Apart from his administrative and research excellence, Dr. Prem Kumar is a prolific author, having published textbooks on IC Engines, Engineering Drawing, and Computer-Aided Graphics. His memberships in leading professional organizations, such as ASME, SAE, ISHRAE, IEI, and ISTE, reflect his dedication to the advancement of mechanical engineering.
